Kaley – Unpacking my bags, I could not believe how much I had changed, and yet I was right back where I started. Though I was born and raised here in The Woodlands, I left for college and then spent five years as a woodworker and furniture maker in New York. In 2011, while considering a new career, I moved back home. At that time, with my design background, I was offered a chance to begin flipping homes. I jumped at the opportunity, although I never anticipated pursuing a career as a REALTOR. Soon after, I got my license, and before I knew it, I was working as a full- time real estate agent and shifted from my original plan. It was not what I expected, and after working solo for many years perfecting each piece as a woodworker, it was refreshing to work so closely with others.
Upon meeting my husband, Brian, traveling the world together and eventually starting our family, I recognized I needed help with my growing business. I met Michelle early into our real estate careers, and we quickly became the best of friends, living through parallel challenges that each took very different roads. Michelle and I teamed up in 2019 because we believe in a harmonious balance between work and family. Through our team, not only have we been able to watch our business thrive, but also fully experience new chapters in our lives with our growing families. We recognized that neither of us can do it all on our own. However, through our partnership, we have become unstoppable.
Michelle – Sitting at the table at an award ceremony, I immediately recognized that the woman talking to me was my person. I met Kaley as a new REALTOR during the most difficult time in my life. In that moment, I was in survival mode, but with time I was able to shift my perspective. I became a licensed real estate agent as a single mother after staying home with my four children for many years. During
those years at home, I moved across the country from Seattle to Texas and became a successful entrepreneur. However, when I had to figure out how to support my children on my own, a friend suggested real estate, and I went all in right away.
It was terrifying to imagine taking care of my family on a commission-only income with my youngest only three years old. Nevertheless, I did what I had to do and refused to let my situation beat me. Though it was tough, I am proud to say I built a very successful business and raised four happy and healthy children.
The icing on the cake was finding my husband, José Antonio, and completing our family with our youngest daughter. It seems impossible looking back at it all, but I realized often we think we cannot do something until we are in a situation where we must. What is the alternative, give up? That was not an option. I have always been determined, even through the toughest of times.
Kaley and I created our team in 2019 and have expanded it to include many agents. Whether we are working with an agent or client, we focus on paying forward all the help we have
received over the years. Through empowering others, we have shown that no one has to choose between living their life and supporting it. Anyone can be an awesome parent and still improve the lives of others through their work in real estate, investment or something else entirely.
